Week 1 of my bikini competition prep proved to be challenging and nerve wracking.
The challenge for me isn’t working out at all. My challenge is the diet. So, I eat 7 meals per day each spaced 2-3 hours apart.. that sounds like A LOT of eating, I know. In reality, I eat very small meals every 2-3 hours and at times I am absolutely starving. I also drink well over a gallon of water everyday. Dont worry, I dont carry around a gallon jug like the local gym meat heads.. I think it would be too heavy. 🙂 Instead I drink out of my 32oz water bottle. Every morning before I leave for work I drink 32oz. By 12:00, 3:00, and 9:00 I drink another 32 oz of water. Well over a gallon but it helps keep me full and hydrated!
The struggles of the diet plan: The other day all I wanted was a spoonful of peanut butter so I started whining to John. Of course, John has way more self control than I do so he told me to get over it and move on. Well.. I may have thrown a temper tantrum but I didn’t eat the peanut butter, instead I took a nap. haha That’s when you know you’re hungry.. when you fight over a spoon of peanut butter!
Other than my one peanut butter freak out, I would say the diet has been going very well! I have stuck to the diet plan almost 100% this week and the scales are showing it too! I’m down about 2 pounds and feeling great!
The MAJOR challenge for me this week?? That would be posing class!
Mind you, most people decide they will compete in a show and they prepare for 6 months to a year. I decided I was going to compete in a show and I am doing it in 9 weeks! So, when my coach asked me if I could make it to a posing class I readily changed my schedule so I could be there! I figured I was already behind because these other people have been prepping for months longer than me. Much to my surprise, my coach followed up his question with this statement, “Perfect, wear a bikini and heels”. My jaw hit the floor.
Didn’t he know I had only been dieting for 3 days?!? I was mortified and super worried that I would be the most out of shape/not show ready person there. Of course, I complained to John who consoled me and told me that I just needed to be there to work on ME. So, I went to the posing class anyway. I was so happy to see smiling and welcoming faces at the class. I immediately made friends with a few of the girls and guys who were there. The class was light hearted and actually super fun!! I was so thankful that I went and that I learned some good information about how to pose on stage during competition.
After the posing class I got fitted for my show bikini. Talk about some weird measurements! The young woman who was helping me helped me choose the color of my suit and the bedazzle level. She said, “how much bling do you want?, I said, “Somewhere between string bling and maser bling. Go big or go home, right?”.
So needless to say, I will be blinged out when I walk across the stage!
I’m so excited for the show! It is only 8 weeks away now. So, I have to stay focused and stay consistent with my diet and exercise. While you’re enjoying your latte and your breakfast sandwich this week, enjoy it for me! 🙂
